The late David Bowie’s very own private art collection will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in London in November, or so The Rolling Stone reports.
pieces by Damien Hirst and Jean-Michel Basquiat
Bowie, who sadly passed away on 10 January 2016, was well known for loving not only music and film abut also art. His very own private collection consists of almost 400 items are expected to sell for an astounding 13 million American dollars.
Inside Bowie’s collection we find several works, mainly paintings, of contemporary artists such as Damien Hirst and Jean-Michel Basquiat but there’s also a fair share of sculptures and design furniture to be found within the collection.
Although Bowie’s fame made it quite difficult to hide many of his personal interests, the fact that his art collection is as diverse and extensive as is seen on Sotheby’s website comes as quite a surprise.
The complete Bowie collection will first be displayed on several art locations around the globe, after which it will be examined once more and put up for auction somewhere later this year in London!
