Duke Nukem Forever finally released

Duke Nukem Forever, the game that took forever to make has finally been released by Gearbox. Duke Nukem was announced in 1997 by 3D Realms and after missing many release dates, the developer announced that the game would be released “when it’s done”. In September 2010, it was announced that Gearbox had taken over development of Duke Nukem Forever. Although the game has appeared on many vaporware lists (software that has been announced long ago, but never released nor officially cancelled), the game has finally been finished and released.

Duke Nukem is a popular game action hero who has starred in many games on several platforms. Duke’s most popular game was Duke Nukem 3D, which has obtained a cult status amongst gamers. The game was characterized by Duke’s macho character, funny one-liners, foul language, sex related content and graphic violence.

Duke Nuked Forever is a first-person shooter, as its predecessor Duke Nukem 3D was as well. The game puts the gamer in Duke’s shoes once again to stop the aliens from invading planet earth and stealing all of our women.

So far the game has received mediocre reviews and several major gaming sites, such as IGN, think the game relies too heavily on one-liners that are repeated too often and offers gamers little pleasure for their money. If you want to give the game a try and judge it for yourself, it’s available now on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
