Online roulette could be moving to Washington D.C.
Although online gambling has been established in Europe for quite a while yet, the gambling industry hasn’t been embraced in the US so far. This could change now as a part of the city’s 2011 budget proposal is to set up between 20 and 30 online gambling hot spots in hotels, bars, clubs and other venues across Washington D.C. With these developments it is very possible that we will be seeing new casinos in the DC area, including specialized casinos such as an exclusive poker or online roulette .
Legislation is pending and could take effect in late summer provided that the Congress doesn’t reconvene to reconsider it in the meantime. Included games would be Texas hold’em poker, online roulette, slots and more.
According to Buddy Roogow, Director of the DC Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board, the games would be accessible for both visitors and residents. “We would like to make our games available at certain locations and provide the kind of social atmosphere like in taverns and hotels”, he told MyFoxDC.com. “You don’t have to live here, but you do have to be here.”
