Orlando Bloom will star in The Hobbit
There has been some speculation about whether Orlando Bloom would star in the upcoming J.R.R. Tolkien movie The Hobbit and up to now it hadn’t been confirmed or denied. Bloom starred in the Lords of the Rings trilogy as Legolas and was one of the most popular characters in the movie.
Many people hoped Legolas would return in The Hobbit and this week Peter Jackson, director of Tolkien’s The Hobbit, announced that Orlando Bloom will be returning to Middle Earth and will play a role in his upcoming movie The Hobbit. Jackson made an update to his Facebook page saying that:
“Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas. I’m excited to announce today that we’ll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again. Funny thing is, I look older—and he doesn’t! I guess that’s why he makes such a wonderful elf.”
The Hobbit will be shot in New Zealand, just like Lords of the Rings and will be released in 2 parts. The first part is expected to premiere in late 2012, the second part is scheduled for a 2013 release.
